Currency / Credit Card
The Russian Ruble is the official currency of Russia. Foreign bank notes can be exchanged into rubles at the airport, and at all Russian banks. Credit cards, e. g. VISA, MasterCard, are widely accepted.
Time difference/ Business Hour
Moscow Time (the time zone for the city of Moscow and most of western Russia, including Saint Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod) is 3 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+3). Business hours for banks are generally from 10:00 to 19:00 on weekdays only. ATMs are widely available. Major department stores are open from 10:00 to 22:00, including Sundays, but smaller shops tend to open and close earlier every day.
In Russia, electrical outlets are operated at 220 volt only. Overseas delegates bringing laptop computers and other electrical appliances are advised to check whether a transformer is required.
